When I accepted Jesus as my Saviour the first book of the bible that I really engaged with was the book of Acts. I loved the action and adventure but most of all I loved what I read in Acts 2:42-47. The top end of that chapter usually gets all of the headlines but it was the fellowship of believers which excited me. Yet when I went to my church, although it was a good bible believing one I did not see the Acts 2 Church. Not there nor anywhere. Where had it gone? Since the decline of the church into mysticism in the middle ages the church has been slowly, bit by bit, returning back to that acts 2 church. The return of the understanding of salvation by Grace. The return to the evangelistic mission of the church. The return of the understanding and ministry of the Holy Spirit. Now I believe it is the time for the return of Agapist fellowship, as described in these five verses. Each one of these movements, often described as denominations, began with a few turning to the scriptures and asking Jesus the question, 'where is this Lord?' In every case they went on to restore that which was lost, misunderstood, hidden or even forgotten about. That's how these kind of things begin

In these days of lockdowns and reduced grouping, traditional church meetings have been difficult and irregular. Our plan has been to ride out the storm until normality returns but it seems increasingly like normality as we remember it may not return. We need to change from the holding action to a progressive plan which leads us closer to the Acts 2 church whilst overcoming our new normal.
